Lord byron pathless woods9/25/2023 The tumult and guilt he experienced as a result of these love affairs were reflected in a series of dark and repentant poems, "The Giaour," "The Bride of Abydos" and "The Corsair." Then, in the summer of 1813, Byron apparently entered into an intimate relationship with his half sister, Augusta, now married. High praise by London society pulled him out of his doldrums, as did a series of love affairs, first with the passionate and eccentric Lady Caroline Lamb, who described Byron as "mad, bad and dangerous to know," and then with Lady Oxford, who encouraged Byron's radicalism. In July 1811, Lord Byron returned to London after the death of his mother, and in spite of all her failings, her passing plunged him into a deep mourning. A year later, with John Hobhouse, he embarked on a grand tour through the Mediterranean Sea and began writing "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage," a poem of a young man's reflections on travel in foreign lands. Upon turning 21, Lord Byron took his seat in the House of Lords. During this time, he found diversion from school and partying with boxing, horse riding and gambling. In 1803, Byron fell deeply in love with his distant cousin, Mary Chaworth, and this unrequited passion found expression in several poems, including "Hills of Annesley" and "The Adieu."įrom 1805 to 1808, Lord Byron attended Trinity College intermittently, engaged in many sexual escapades and fell deep into debt. In 1798, at age 10, George inherited the title of his great-uncle, William Byron, and was officially recognized as Lord Byron. As a result he lacked discipline and a sense of moderation, traits he held on to his entire life. As a boy, young George endured a father who abandoned him, a schizophrenic mother and a nurse who abused him. A clubfoot from birth left him self-conscious most of his life. Lord Byron was the sixth Baron Byron of a rapidly fading aristocratic family. Among Byron's best-known works are the lengthy narrative poems Don Juan and Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and the short lyric She Walks in Beauty. George Gordon Byron, who is usually referred to as Lord Byron, was a prominent British writer and poet, most famous for the influence of his poetry on the romantic movement that originated in the eighteenth century.

Expertgps import gpx files9/25/2023 If you have GPX files created using other programs, you can try them here, but I’ve had problems getting EGPS2shp to convert them correctly. Then click on the “Convert” button, and the shapefiles get created. If you don’t want a particular type of data created, leave the box next to it unchecked in the example above, I’ve left “Area” unchecked because it’s an unsupported type. But you can choose your own filenames as well for the shapefiles if you like. If you check the “ESRI shp file prefix” box, EGPS2shp will use the file prefix of the GPX file for the file prefix of the shapefile, appending _L to the line file prefix and _P to the point file prefix, as in the example above. Open up the GPX file you want to convert using the File button at upper left. While it asks for GPX files created using ExpertGPS (EasyGPS’s shareware big brother), it can open and convert EasyGPS GPX files as well the difference is that ExpertGPS can create GPX files with areas, while EasyGPS can only do waypoints and tracks.Ĭonversion is pretty straightforward. Next, open the GPX file in the simple program EGPS2shp (freeware, Windows only): First, use EasyGPS to download and edit your waypoints and tracks (as described in an earlier post), then save them as a GPX file. Lobal GPS only does waypoints if you want to download track and waypoint data and convert them into shapefile format, I’ve found one multi-step process that seems to work well. I should note that this program worked fine with an older Garmin unit of mine (eMap), but I’m having problems using it with a more modern unit (60Cx) YMMV. If you’re only downloading point data with your Garmin unit, you might even choose this program over DNRGarmin because of its simpler interface. The icons in the Waypoint section allow other operations on the waypoints, like editing, printing, sorting, filtering, even statistical operations like mean, median, standard deviation, etc. “Waypoints” brings up the waypoint screen seen here “GPS Setup” lets you define the serial COM port and interface for your GPS “Connect” downloads the data “Save As” lets you save the waypoint data as a point shapefile, KML file, DBF file, HTML file, or tab-delimited text file. Here’s a screenshot:Ī nice, simple interface. If you have a Magellan unit with a serial interface, and only need to export waypoint data to a point shapefile, you could do worse than Lobal GPS (freeware, Windows only also works with Garmin serial units). But what you do you do if you don’t have a Garmin, or you have a mix of Garmin and other brands and want to stick to a single process flow? It can be done, but it takes a bit more work than with DNRGarmin. In a previous post, I covered DNRGarmin, the best solution out there for downloading data from Garmin GPS units and converting it to the GIS-friendly shapefile format. Since she has been using ages in songs since her first album, it is likely she will mention more on subsequent albums. When it comes to Taylor Swift, there are hardly any coincidences. Some songs peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.Ĭould that fact that Taylor Swift mentions 13 different ages in her music be a coincidence? It could, but it seems unlikely. The number 13 is also connected to her music. She was born on December 13 and turned 13 on Friday the 13. If you're a Taylor Swift fan, you probably already know what that means. If you've been paying attention to the numbers before the ages, you'll notice that this is the 13th age mentioned in a Taylor Swift song. I am fish download9/24/2023 Probably a fusion of ridiculous, frustrating, hilarious, and addictive. If there's anything we know about this game, given its developer's history is that it will be quite a ride. There are some top-tier visuals and physics behind the gameplay. It's not just a simple indie offering either. Players will be taking control of a rogue fish circumventing its aquatic environment to explore the wider land-based world. I Am Fish, without a doubt, one of those games. If you enjoyed Bossa Studios' previous games, you'll likely find I Am Fish to be a similarly enjoyable romp.Įvery now and then comes a game with a concept so bizarre that it simply has to be played. Like those titles, I Am Fish doesn't take itself too seriously and offers a lighthearted and entertaining experience. It's worth noting that Bossa Studios, the developer behind I Am Fish, is known for creating offbeat and humorous games such as Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread. The soundtrack is also fantastic, with upbeat, tropical-inspired tunes that perfectly match the game's tone. The game has a great sense of humor, with witty dialogue and silly situations that will make you chuckle. While the gameplay and visuals are the main draws of I Am Fish, there are other features that make the game worth checking out. Whether it's the determined expression on the pufferfish's face or the playful antics of the goldfish, you'll quickly fall in love with each of the game's aquatic protagonists. Each of the four playable fish has its own unique look and animations, and they all have a ton of personality. The water physics are spot-on, and it's a joy to watch your fish swim in its little containers.īut it's not just the environments that are visually stunning - the fish themselves are beautifully designed. The game's graphics are bright and colorful, and there's attention to detail in the environments that make them feel like real – albeit cartoony – locales. The gameplay is challenging but never unfair, and there's a real sense of accomplishment when you finally make it to the end of a level. From dodging sharp objects to navigating through tight spaces, you'll have to be strategic in your movements to make it through each level.įor most of the game, players will have to control their fish bowl with a Monkey Ball-style gameplay. The game is full of obstacles that will put your aquatic skills to the test. I Am Fish is a game that puts players in the fins of a fish with a simple goal: to escape a fish tank and make it back to the ocean. With simple controls and an intuitive gameplay loop, I Am Fish is the perfect game for anyone looking for a lighthearted yet challenging puzzle game. The game's cartoonish visuals and quirky gameplay are sure to draw in players of all ages. Players control one of four fish, each with unique abilities, as they embark on a journey of a lifetime. The game follows the journey of four aquatic friends, who are separated from their home and must make their way back by navigating through various obstacles, both natural and man-made. I Am Fish is a physics-based puzzle game developed by Bossa Studios, the team behind some of the most outrageous games out there. I found this quite tricky to get the hang of and I would regularly miss where I was trying to land. The Flying Fish is kind of like the Pufferfish, except when you leap out of the water you can go much further. It is pretty clever stuff and probably my favorite aspect of the game. A great example of this is when you are in the sink and the water is very shallow, you jump up, bite the tap and the water starts to fill the sink and you can then move on. The Piranha has the most puzzle based of all the gameplay in my opinion as he can use his strong jaws to break stuff. The Pufferfish can puff up and when he is puffed up, he can bounce around out of water, but the trick is jumping out of water, puffing up, and then landing in more water. Goldfish is the most basic, he is in a fishbowl/jar thing and he can roll around the world to get to where he needs to, I found this part of the game to have a bit of Super Monkey Ball about it. The selection of fish in I Am Fish is awesome. This is a physics-based kind of game and getting to grip with this is the key to moving your fish from area to area, but each fish has their own set of abilities. There is a learning curve here and I could easily see that leading to a bit of frustration for some children. I will say that the controls of the game do take a bit of getting used to and that is why I do not think that I Am Fish is a game that is ideal for really young kids. Digital planner stickers goodnotes9/24/2023 I appreciate all the comments on the diffraction spikes. That said, the saturated (or nearly saturated) stars that show diffraction spikes might be slightly less elongated, suggesting a masking technique that resulted in fewer of them being stacked- not an unreasonable thing to do. Since the diffraction spikes are at 45° to the direction of elongation, we'd expect the broadening to be the same for both axes, meaning there is no simple way to detect it. Perhaps Damian can chip in here with some more technical information about the exposure and processing.Ĭousin Ricky wrote:The big question (the “incongruity”) is why the diffraction spikes are not smeared to the extent that the stars are elongated. My guess is that the tracking was on the stars, and the slight elongation is an artifact of the stacking method used to try and minimize trailing for both the stars and comet at the same time (which isn't something that can be done perfectly). That's more than the slight elongation seen in the stars (which I guess is what you are calling "tracking motion"). That corresponds to about 90 arcseconds of drift of the comet against the background stars, or about 6 pixels when looking at the full-sized image. I didn't find any technical information for this image, but based on other images I assume around a 15-minute total exposure time. The telescope Damian uses has a spider-mounted secondary, so diffraction spikes are normal. I don't think the diffraction spikes are artificial. It seems incongruent that all of the stars have tracking motion but the diffraction spikes are clear and crisp. original sound - lyriclychee.Geckzilla wrote:I presume the diffraction spikes were added for artistic effect.
